The Lyrical Poetry Project

Steps

  1. Listen to lots of music. Pay attention to the words (the lyrics).
  2. Select 3-5 of your favorite songs. Listen to the words. Submit your list on 3/28.
  3. Select any artist, any era, any style, any length, any message.
  4. Be certain that the lyrics are not offensive to anyone's race, religion, or gender.
  5. Acquire copies of the lyrics to the most meaningful 2 songs.
  6. Make at least two copies of these lyrics to use as rough and final draft material.
  7. Bring the lyrics to class. Show the copies to the instructor for your artifact points.
  8. Deadline for the lyrics copies to be in is 4/7. Research class points will be awarded
    for finding these lyrics and printing them out and submitting them.
  9. Decide which will be your primary song and which will be your back-up.
  10. Be certain to have a CD or other copy of the the song to play during your presentation.
  11. Mark examples of each of the 40 literary terms in your chosen song lyrics as we go through each discussion of them in class.
  12. Certain of the terms are required to be included, unless they aren't in your lyrics.
  13. Consult the list below to find which terms must be found. Click here for definitions of the terms.
  14. When you have marked them all on your rough draft, submit a final draft to be checked.
  15. Then you may begin constructing your presentation.
  16. You must use MS-PowerPoint for this assignment.
